Katmandu
Model Hospital (KMH) was established in 1993 with 18
beds as a community referral hospital. It expanded its
bed capacity up to 50 beds in 1995 with additional
services. Since 2003, it has upgraded its service scopes
with 125 beds, and it is now one of the reputed
hospitals for secondary and tertiary specialized
services in the capital city. Despite limited resources,
it promotes the best possible newer methods of
treatment.
KMH envisions health services not only
in a mechanical term but also in a social context and it
firmly believes that health services should help the
sick to become the most important actor in fighting
against all kinds of sufferings. It believes in the
principles that health service:
Should not aim at merely
curing diseases, but also at removing human suffering;
Should be a mix of technology and
human values;
Should not be denied to those who
cannot buy services and those who do not seek the
services;
Should be made available to the
greater number of less privileged population of the
society
