2nd Nepal - Japan Neurosurgery Conference |
Report on 2nd Nepal-Japan Neurosurgery Conference 22-23 Sept, Pokhara, Nepal |
The 2nd Nepal-Japan Neurosurgery Conference took place in Pokhara in Sept. 22nd – 23rd, 2006. The theme of the meeting was “Disseminating neurosurgery knowledge” aiming at disseminating knowledge of this science to general medical community as well as neurosurgical colleagues. The conference was planned in Pokhara thinking that the participant can enjoy the Himalayas at the same time but due to bad weather we could not see the mountains. Such bad weather was unusual for this session. There were a total of 145 participants of which 31 were foreigners. There were all together 26 participants from Japan , comprising of leaders from Hakkaido to Kagoshima, a well representation of Japanese neurosurgical community. There were a total of 63 paper presented consisting of basic neurosurgery to latest updates. Presence of Prof. Albino Bricolo from Italy, Prof. Atul Goel and Prof. Basant Misra from India, Dr. Ivan NG from Singapore and Dr. Andre Gadzali from Indonesia were the foreigner participants other than Japanese who gave the conference an international color. The conference was appreciated by the participants for its good planning, punctuality and highly standard of academics. Besides study every night was filled with local cultural and socialization program. There was a different program for the ladies, which was thoroughly enjoyed and well appreciated by the spouses. This conference could take neuroscience of this country one step forward and have opened up new possibilities in the future.
We would like to thank all the people who came from far away to participate in the conference and especially to Prof. Tetsuo Kanno who strongly encouraged us to conduct this meeting.
